There are achievement gaps between students from our most affluent schools and those from our poorer, oftentimes minority schools.

To close the gaps we need adequate funding and strong parental involvement.

And we need a quality teacher in every classroom, certified in the subjects that they teach.

NEA is working to improve teacher quality in schools where students face the greatest challenges in academic achievement.

We're partnering with organizations like the Tom Joyner Foundation to help teachers meet the highest standards of our profession. Policymakers, parents and NEA members are focusing on school improvement.
