An Open Letter to the Presidential Candidates

NEA New Hampshire ad in Union LeaderThere are innovative and imaginative ways to measure student success. No Child Left Behind allows only one way -- a single, one-size-fits-all, do-or-die, high-stakes standardized test.

Teachers want to teach the student - not teach to the test.

That means allowing teachers and school staff to use more than a single test on a single day to measure individual student progress!

"Test Once and Punish Forever" is not a balanced approach for addressing the challenges public schools face today!

It's time to hear from you. Not a single debate by presidential candidates --Democrat or Republican -- has addressed public schools in any meaningful way.

We want to know - where do you stand?

Shouldn't a child be more than a test score?
