I plan to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday by having a "Read-In" afternoon on March 3. I always start by reading one of my faovrite Dr. Seuss book's to my class. Then I let my students settle into several of their own good books along with their own pillows, blankets, and sleeping bags that they brought from home for the event (NO PAJAMAS!).

Houston Middle School is going to celebrate Read Across America by doing a variety of reading activities involving Dr. Seussisms during our advisory classes throughout the week prior to the official Read Across America day. Guest readers have been invited to come and read to the different grades throughout the week. March 3rd we will have a day especially designated to RAA. We will read a variety of genres and eat green eggs and ham. Tuesday will be the culminating activity that will enhance the love of reading during a family fun night of Bingo. We will be celebrating reading and dedicating this night to Dr. Seuss. Not only will we be reading stories and playing Bingo, but we will be having a costume contest for the best story book character. Prizes will be given away and birthday cake will be eaten too. It is sure to be a great event and we are excited to participate.
