NEA National Cadres: Call for Trainers


There are now openings on NEA’s National Training Cadres!

The deadline for applications is December 1, 2011.

NEA members look to their Association for training to help them become more effective educators and Association members. The National Education Association is now recruiting members to apply to be trainers on one of five national training cadres.

Based on experience, applicants from various regions will be selected for each cadre. If you are chosen, you will be fully prepped in the module for that training, and NEA will cover your travel expenses when you are trained and when you do the trainings.  Each module is research-based, member-tested and constantly updated.

Demand for our member-to-member trainings is robust. The five cadre (under the stewardship of NEA Human and Civil Rights) for which trainers are being sought, include:

NEA members who are interested can apply for one of the cadres. Please see the cadre below and use the links for more information and guidelines about the cadre that interests you the most. Please apply for only one cadre. Mutiple applications will not be considered.

The application deadline for each cadre is December 1, 2011 and all applications and accompanying documentation must be received by December 1, 2011. We seek trainers who are geographically dispersed and from diverse backgrounds in terms of race and ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation.

  • Bullying and Sexual Harassment Prevention Cadre

    This training provides resources and skills development for NEA members so that they help create a school climate conducive to learning for all students, a school climate free of bullying and harassment. Download more information and application.

  • National Diversity Training Cadre

    Diversity is the sum of the many ways individuals and groups are alike and different. This training focuses on understanding and valuing diversity, developing cultural identity, and reacting to differences. Download more information and application.

  • Minority Leadership Training Cadre

    This training prepares ethnic minority members to be activists and leaders in the Association. In fact, most of today’s leaders in the Association are graduates of the Minority Leadership Training Program. Download more information and application.

  • Safety, Bias and GLBT Issues Cadre

    This training is designed for all members, especially those who are interested in address bias, regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. The goal is to create safe classrooms and schools for GLBT students and employees. Download more information and application.

  • Women's Leadership Training Program Cadre

    Seven out of every ten NEA members is a woman. This training prepares women to participate fully in Association activities and assume leadership positions throughout the Association. Download more information and application.
