Open House Day

Open House Day, on Monday, November 16, kicks off American Education Week, a time to celebrate public education, teachers, education support professionals, substitute educators, parents, students, and the community.

Today is the day to

  • Decorate your school's common areas with the American Education Week poster. (See Online Toolkit: Promotional Materials.)
  • Students and teacher in each classroom design a bulletin board that reflects American Education Week's tagline, "Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility."
  • Familiarize students with American Education Week by recognizing the honorees of each day - such as parents during Parents Day - in the morning announcements.
