2012 Annual Meeting Child Care Services
NEA offers child care services at the Annual Meeting. NEA has contracted with ACCENT on Children’s Arrangements, Inc., the same service used in past years to manage the Child Care Center and Club NEA.
Child Care Regular Hours (June 30-July 5)
The Child Care Center and Club NEA will open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on June 30 and July 1, and 6:30 a.m. to one-half hour after conclusion of the Representative Assembly (RA) on July 2-5. The Child Care Service Center will open as early as 6:30 a.m. from July 2 through July 5 to accommodate state caucus meetings, so as long as you are able to arrange for transportation to the convention center. However, you must indicate your need for an earlier (before 8:30 a.m.) start time when you complete the child care reservation form. Child care services are available for children ages nine and younger. The Child Care Center is limited to approximately 75 children, so we advise you to reserve a place by completing the reservation form and sending it as soon as possible.
Penalties for Late Pick-Up
We need to reiterate the Child Care Center and Club NEA will close at 6:30 p.m. on June 30 and July 1 and one-half hour after the conclusion of the RA from July 2-5. There will be no child care services available one-half hour after the end of the Annual Meeting day. If a child is left longer than one-half hour, there will be a $20 fee assessed for any portion of the next half hour, and a $10 fee for any portion of each additional 15 minutes.
Child Care during Official Pre-Convention Activities and The Human and Civil Rights Dinner
We are offering the possibility of providing child care services at pre-convention meetings on June 29 and during the Human and Civil Rights Dinner. There will be no Club NEA for pre-convention and evening events. Older children may be placed in child care. It is important to understand that child care at the pre-convention meetings will be available only if we hear in advance (by June 22) that such service is desired. This is because there is a cost for hiring staff and setting up a room, and we would not want to incur that expense unless we knew in fact that some of you intend to utilize the service. The cost of child care at a pre-convention meeting is $10.00 per child, per day. As is the case with normal child care service, this service begins one-half hour before the scheduled time of the activity and service ends one-half hour after the event is over. The restrictions and additional penalty fees referenced above apply to this service as well. If you pre-register for child care for pre-convention meetings, we will contact you shortly before your meeting to confirm the site of this activity. If, in fact, child care service is offered at a site other than where the meeting is being held, the delegate will have to bear any transportation costs for getting to and from the child care service. Other individuals have arranged for child care service and if you have not pre-registered, it may be possible for you to utilize the services when you come onsite. However, we would encourage you to notify us in advance to ensure availability. Once again, we will only be offering this service if we are made aware that there is enough interest on the part of our delegates.
Childcare Meals & Snacks
Snacks will be provided at no cost twice a day in the Child Care Center. Lunches and dinners will not be provided. You may either bring a meal or pre-order on the attached form.
