The purpose of these grants is to assist joint advocacy and organizing projects between a local affiliate(s) and ethnic minority organizations or communities. The organizing project must seek to enhance the local’s relationships with ethnic minority populations and organizations, as well as be designed to be mutually beneficial to the local and the partner organization(s).

Priority will be granted to locals:

  • who are engaged in or launching initiatives to improve student achievement and can demonstrate how this grant will be used to amplify these initiatives;
  • desire to deeply engage NEA members who have been trained through one of the NEA’s leadership trainings OR who have a demonstrated record of activism; or
  • desire to establish and institutionalize new union roles related to parental and/or community engagement or enhance social justice activism by our members.
