Applying for Press Credentials for NEA’s Annual Meeting and Representative Assembly

Denver, Colorado, July 1 - 6, 2014

Members of the news media wishing to cover the NEA Representative Assembly must apply for press credentials from NEA Public Relations. Applicants must provide the name(s) of their employing newspapers, magazines, radio stations, television stations, or news-gathering organizations. Each applicant will be notified as soon as her/his application is processed.

Press credentials will be granted only to bona fide working press. Credentials will not be issued to representatives of lobbying, special interest, or advocacy organizations. Delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly are not eligible for press credentials.

To pick up credentials, each press registrant must provide photo identification AND a current, valid press ID issued by federal, state, or local government OR a letter from your editor/producer, on letterhead, from a bona fide journalism outlet.

Each registrant must pick up his or her own credentials. Those without proper identification will not be admitted.

Only media credentialed by NEA will be admitted to NEA meetings, facilities, and news events. Badges may be picked up June 30 - July 6 in Communications, Room 205/207 on Level 2 of the Colorado Convention Center.

Press credentials authorize media representative to be seated in the official Press Section of the Representative Assembly, to attend NEA news conferences, to enter the exhibit area, and to use the Media Filing Center. Credentials must be visible at all times. No visitors or family members are permitted inside the Filing Center or in the Press Section.

Those holding press credentials are not allowed on the floor of the Representative Assembly, except to walk to and from the Press Section. NEA President Dennis Van Roekel requests that delegates give their full attention to resolutions and other actions under consideration, so no media interviews are permitted on the floor of the Representative Assembly.

Credentialed press shall not engage in lobbying, publicity, or promotion.

If a media representative violates any of these provisions, the credentials will be revoked and the person will be escorted from the building.
