Reading All Year Long

From booklists to tips for reading out loud, find what you need to inspire students to pick up a book and become lifelong readers.

Each year, NEA’s Read Across America program creates a colorful calendar of books and reading lesson ideas for our members, highlighted here. Join us as we celebrate children’s literature and work to cultivate good reading habits that will last a lifetime. Learn about diverse books from this year's 20th Anniversary Read Across America Calendar.

NEA is committed to celebrating reading and literacy throughout the year by showcasing popular children’s authors and trends in children’s literature. NEA Today, NEA's flagship publication, honors that commitment with News and Features from the World of Reading.

We Need Diverse Books!

NEA's Read Across America is proud to partner with We Need Diverse Books, the collaborative effort by diverse authors and illustrators and literacy advocates to support diversity in children and young adult literature. We participated in their Tumblr and will work with We Need Diverse Books and FirstBook for greater diversity in classroom and school libraries and book lists that celebrate diversity of all kinds. We are revamping our own booklists and finding more for you to share with students. Go to www.weneeddiversebooks.org.
