Honoring K-12 Schools & Districts Engaged in Character Education

Each year, the Character Education Partnership (CEP) recognizes ten schools and districts with awards for their exemplary work in improving the behavior and learning of their students through character education. After the award winners are selected, CEP helps these schools and districts to serve as models for other educators. In 2007, winning schools and districts will win $20,000.

To be eligible, schools must have been engaged in character education for a minimum of three full years, starting no later than December 2003, and must have a minimum of 175 students. Districts must have been engaged in character education for a minimum of four full years, starting no later than December 2002.

Winners may differ in their methods and implementation, but all have comprehensive, exemplary character education programs that exemplify CEP's  Eleven Principles of Effective Character Education and serve as models for others.

The deadline for submitting applications is December 4, 2006.
