President
Vice President

All Executive Committee Members
President (two-year term)
- Serve as the official representative/spokesperson for NCHE
- Prepare agendas for and preside at all meetings of NCHE and the Executive Committee, including conference calls
- Prepare and submit an annual report to the NCHE Regular Annual Meeting
- Serve on NEA-appointed committees and task forces
- Monitor all meetings of the NEA Executive Committee, NEA Board, and Program/Budget Committee, and report to NCHE Executive Committee/Organizational members
- Represent NCHE as a member of the Political Action Committee or appoint a designee
- Serve as Chair of the Higher Education Subcommittee/ACM and Co-Chair of the NEA Advisory Committee on Membership (per agreement with NEA)
- Create materials and supervise duplication/distribution of those materials for each NCHE meeting, including materials sent to registrants prior to the meeting i.e. Constitution/Bylaws amendments, Davenport application documents
- Attend meetings of NCUEA and NCSEA
- Negotiate NCHE's service contract with NEA
- Represent higher education members at Education International, as the NEA President requests
- Be released from employment at least one-half time to perform these duties
Vice President (two-year term)
- Assume duties of the President when/if necessary
- Publish the NCHE newsletter (two times yearly in hardcopy and monthly as an electronic newsletter)
- Maintain and update electronic media used to communicate with members (ListServ, web site, electronic newsletter)
- Attend the NEA Board meetings and other such meetings as the President requests (The NEA Board meets 4 times per year; each meeting is 2 days.)
- Coordinate with the Membership Chair in membership outreach
- Other duties as assigned by the President
Secretary/Treasurer (two-year term)
- Maintain an updated file of NCHE Rules and Policies and Procedures as adopted
- Reconcile the receivables report with the Membership Chair
- Review and sign vouchers for all Executive Committee members
- Chair the Financial Review Committee at the Regular Annual Meeting, reviewing the financial records of the Council
- Report financial standing to the NCHE RAM and Summer Meeting
- Recommend a yearly budget for adoption by the Council
- Keep official minutes of all meetings and maintain the official files
- Handle the correspondence of the Council
- Assist the Membership Chair in maintaining an accurate membership/mailing list
- Other duties as assigned by the President
Membership Chair (two-year term)
- Determine recruitment strategies
- Coordinate the recruitment of new members
- Notify members for dues payment
- Oversee registration at the NCHE RAM, as well as the Summer Meeting at the NEA Representative Assembly
- Coordinate the membership drive at the pre-RA Joint Conference on the Concerns of Women and Minorities
- Maintain an accurate membership mailing list
- Reconcile the membership report in coordination with the Program Assistant and the Secretary/Treasurer
- Assist the Vice President as needed with membership outreach
- Other duties as assigned by the President
All Executive Committee Members (including officers and Membership Chair)
- Meet prior to the Regular Annual Meeting in early March at the NEA Higher Education Conference site (3 days)
- Run as a delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly
- Attend the NCHE Summer Meeting and the NEA Representative Assembly as a delegate (approximately 7 days)
- Participate in conference calls or meet in person at least six times annually
- Participate in a Fall NCHE Executive Committee Retreat (3 days)
- Serve on committees of NCHE i.e. Davenport Committee, Elections Committee, NEA Endorsement Committee
- Participate actively in NCHE membership recruitment campaigns in both your state and region, as well as during the NEA Representative Assembly
- Attend the appropriate NEA regional conference and lead the higher education caucus discussion there (3 days)
- Testify on behalf of NCHE at NEA budget, legislative, and/or resolutions hearings
Other duties as assigned by the President
NCHE Executive Committee members are reimbursed for expenses associated with attending their NEA Regional Leadership Conference, the NCHE Regular Annual Meeting just prior to the NEA Higher Education Conference, and NCHE meetings associated with the NEA RA up to an amount of $750 for each meeting, provided that no other funding sources can be obtained and money is available in the NCHE budget.
Officers and Executive Committee members are encouraged to solicit state and local funding for travel whenever possible. Other limited funds are sometimes available to supplement the NCHE allotment when no other funds are available to the Committee member.
