Letter thanking U.S.Representatives for supporting the Affordable Health Care for America Act of 2009
November 09, 2009
U.S. House of Representatives
Washington DC 20515
The National Education Association (NEA), representing 3.2 million educators across the nation, would like to thank you for your vote in support of the historic Affordable Health Care for America Act of 2009 (H.R. 3962) — landmark legislation that will bring real reform to our health care system.
NEA strongly supported passage of H.R. 3962 because our members know that ensuring quality, affordable health care for everyone in America is fundamental not only to our economic future but also critically important to our nation's children and their families. This bill does what many thought impossible — provides quality health care reform that is affordable and covers nearly all Americans without taxing benefits. We commend the House for standing strong in support of a public option health insurance plan available nationally on day one and for rejecting any excise tax on health benefits.
We thank you again for your courage in rising above the contentious debate to cast a vote that will move our nation forward. We stand ready to work with you, and all those who support real health care reform, in the coming weeks to ensure enactment of a final health care bill that puts the American public first.
