Educators in Action
Educating kids. Who could know more about that than you, the professionals who work with students every day? Inside this issue of the magazine, we introduce NEA Today Action. It’s not just a forum for education’s most powerful senior officials to share their views on education policy with you directly—it also gives you a chance to respond.
Because local, state, and national policies and law affect everything we do in and around our public schools and classrooms, we must work with policymakers, and try, as best we can, to educate them. Like healthcare reform, education reform and the upcoming reauthorization of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act—known more recently as No Child Left Behind—profoundly impact Association members and the students we serve.
We urge you to accept NEA President Dennis Van Roekel’s invitation to make your voice heard online at www.neatoday.org/action. The conversation is not complete unless you talk back!
