Thank You Letter to House
July 01, 2010
I want to thank you personally for voting last night to put kids first and include funding for education jobs and Pell Grants in the supplemental appropriations bill. Your support has brought us a step closer to ensuring that when school reopens this fall, millions of children will receive the instruction, services, and support they need to succeed — in school and in life.
Our children played no part in creating our nation’s fiscal woes — and they should not bear the brunt of them. Keeping schools open, educators working, and students learning is essential to strengthening our nation’s faltering economy. On behalf of the 3.2 million members of the National Education Association, I thank you for doing right by America’s educators and America’s children — at once our future and our living legacy.
