Don’t you sometimes wonder what they’re talking about? Not your students, but your administrators. “Will our LEP kids make AYP under NCLB? Maybe if we get them PEPs…” Huh? Stepping into your first faculty meeting may feel a little like hopping off the plane in Beijing. Oh, how you wish somebody had told you to study Mandarin in college….

Fortunately, we can offer some help. Take our vocabulary quiz and decode the gobbledygook that is education-speak. Keep in mind that some acronyms do vary from state to state or even from district to district.

Very funny! What happens if someone fails the [Explicit] ? Do they have to attend WUASTC remediation? (wake up and smell the coffee) All kidding aside, acronyms really could be confusing to new teachers and those afraid to ask questions.

This was easy seeing the scenarios, but just in meetings and they throw them out at us, it is like talking Greek....we need a sheet of acronyms to put in our Teacher Binders to have as a reference. Are we turning to a texting society...words mean more than letters!!!
