Thank you Letter to Senators who voted YES on the Education Jobs/FMAP Bill

August 05, 2010

Dear Senator:

On behalf of the 3.2 million members of the National Education Association (NEA), the students they serve, their families and their communities, we thank you for voting today to create a $10 billion education jobs fund and extend enhanced Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (FMAP).

Today’s vote was critical to our nation’s future. It will save an estimated 138,000 educators’ jobs, help ensure conditions conducive to teaching and learning in public schools nationwide, provide an immediate boost to the economy, and reduce the federal deficit over the long term.

Our members in your state and across the nation watched this vote closely. On their behalf, we thank you again for doing what is right and supporting public education—the best investment our nation can make in the children who will lead 21st century America.

Sincerely,

Kim Anderson
