I am blessed to be working for great administrators right now. It has not always been that way. I truely believe that all Administrators should be required to teach at least one class every other year to keep their focus grounded and help them remember what teachers face everyday.

Do they have a clue as to what their teachers deal with? No wonder we are overworked as teachers, we are picking up the slack for them!!!!!!!!!!!

What planet did this questionarie orginate from? Because, it does not fit with my scope of principal leadership.

I WAY overestimated how many principals work late and deal with tough problems regularly. This gives me an even greater respect for the administrators at my school, who go the extra mile for a disadvantaged urban population every day!

Oh Lauram I could not agree with you more on your quiz idea. I am so tired of being told that a decision is made "becasue I am the principal and I can" or words to that effect. And then we wonder why we still have trouble keeping teachers in some of our underperforming schools. I truly believe it is a top down job!

I thought the questions would be about my principal and how well I knew her. She doesn't fit the profile in almost every point. She's way above.

Well, any individual principal is going to vary somewhat from this statistical average. So let's not be too hasty in judging our own leaders....
WOW! | 2010/09/16
Judging from my score it is obvious the most recent Principals I have worked with are well below average!

I don't really know my principal well at all based on this survey. I like Laura's idea, too!
KARI | 2010/09/16
I DID POORLY. NO WONDER I LEFT THE PRINCIPALSHIP
Betty | 2010/09/16
I'm with Laura, totally.

Interesting most of the percentages were tepid, numbers on the small side, but HUGE on how the staff is satisfied, or so they think.

Here's an idea for an even better quiz. Ask us to answer percentage questions taken from a survey where teachers rated their Principal's performance. It would be interesting to see the number of teachers who actually work in an environment where both students and teachers are supported versus the percentage that work under principals that need to go back to class for training in effective leadership.

I'm with Mary - I failed because I was too generous with my impressions of Principals.
Mary | 2010/09/15
I failed this test because I was generous...clearly, I do not know my principal...
