World Congress 2011
The 6th World Congress of Education International (EI)
The World Congress, held every four years, is the supreme governing body of EI. It provides an opportunity for representatives of all EI affiliates to meet and strengthen the bonds of solidarity between teachers and education workers throughout the world. Delegates consider the major contemporary issues affecting their organizations, the international education union movement, and the ongoing struggle to achieve quality public education for all.
The theme for the 6th World Congress is Building the Future through Quality Education, and was determined by Education International’s Executive Board. This theme builds on EI’s mission to provide a free quality public education for all children. As the global union federation representing education workers worldwide, EI seeks to improve the welfare and status of teachers and other education employees, including Education Support Professionals. Please note that while ESPs are a part of some EI affiliates, the term “ESP” is not commonly used in the global community, rather “education workers” encompass all job categories.
