Counting on You

Help NEA Build a Nation of Readers!

NEA’s Read Across America is a year-round program and NEA-Retired members play a key role in our quest to share the love of reading and our ability to reach millions of students, parents, and community members.

What can you do to help? Here are tips from Read Across America veterans:

  • Join the Read Across America pledge and tell us your plans. Don’t forget to join our Facebook page, too!
  • Ask local members to join you in reading and mentoring or holding a book drive.
  • Go to wegivebooks.org, and when you read a book, the Pearson Foundation will donate one to NEA’s Books Across America.
  • Visit NEA’s Read Across America for tips, resources, and downloadable certificates and news from our partners. Find out about grants to help fund your events!

Remember, “you’re never to old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child.”
