NEA applauds appointment of Cecilia Muñoz as Domestic Policy Council Director

WASHINGTON - January 10, 2012 -

National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel said the appointment of Cecilia Muñoz as Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council is good news for America’s middle class.  The White House announced today that Ms. Muñoz, who currently serves as Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, will assume responsibility for coordinating the policy-making process and the implementation of domestic policy for the White House.

“Ms. Muñoz brings keen insight and a deep understanding of critical national issues, and she is a tireless advocate for America’s middle class,” said Van Roekel.  “NEA looks forward to working with her on policies that will increase equity, help all students succeed, and strengthen the nation’s public schools.”
