Educators endorse Jesse Jackson, Jr. for re-election to U.S. House of Representatives
Jackson believe education is the key to our future economy and nation’s success
WASHINGTON - February 09, 2012 -
The National Education Association political action committee (PAC), The NEA Fund, today endorsed Jesse Jackson, Jr. for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. If re-elected, Jackson will represent the 2nd district, which includes the south side of Chicago and many of the city’s southeast suburbs. Rep. Jackson has represented the second district since 1999.
“Congressman Jackson is a fighter who knows that the road to a strong economy runs through our public schools,” said NEA President Dennis Van Roekel. “He continues to advocate for more funding and high standards for public education so educators, in turn, stand behind him. We are pleased that he shares our priorities for public education and we look forward to working with him in the next Congress to help ensure the success of all our students.”
“We cannot remain great or competitive in a new world marketplace unless we have the best educational system in the world,” said Jackson. “Our current good jobs increasingly depend on securing the best education and this will be increasingly so in the future.”

Jesse L Jackson, Jr. for reelection in Congressional District 2,” said Illinois Education Association President Cinda Klickna. “Congressman Jackson is a proven friend of public education. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, he has fought to increase funding for public education and to keep high quality educators in the classroom.”
The NEA Fund provides direct financial support to recommended candidates for president, the U.S. House and the U.S. Senate, who will fight improve public education, and support students, teachers and staff.
