Rep. Biggert Talks with Illinois Educators at NEA Tele-Town Hall
On Monday, October 22, the Illinois Education Association and NEA hosted a successful tele-townhall meeting with Representative Judy Biggert (R) from Illinois’ 13th district. Educators from the new District 11 were invited to participate as well as those in Biggert’s current District 13.
A range of issues were discussed, from ESEA reauthorization to school funding and college affordability. Biggert also remarked on what she feels are the most effective ways to improve public education in Illinois.
Cinda Klickna, President of the Illinois Education Association, along with Vice President Kathi Griffin and Secretary-Treasurer Al Llorens, led the call and helped ensure the topics addressed were those that are most important to Illinois educators. Participants were polled on the issues of ESEA reauthorization and STEM recruitment and asked to indicate what they think are the most important changes needed for NCLB.
