Letter to the House on Moving ESEA Reauthorization

May 21, 2013

Dear Representative:

On behalf of the 3 million members of the National Education Association (NEA), we urge you to sign on to Representatives Meehan and Takano’s letter to the House Education and the Workforce committee on taking action on reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act.

Students across the country need action and they need it now.  We are asking you to call on the Education and Workforce committee to move now; reauthorization is well overdue. It is imperative that Congress reassert its authority over this critical law and move as quickly as possible to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. While doing so, educators and communities must be involved in the process.  Their expertise on a local level is invaluable to ensuring ESEA reauthorization is handled correctly and with students as the number one priority.   Another school year will soon be upon us, and districts need the certainty that a Congressional reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act would provide.

Again, please join Representatives Meehan and Takano’s letter to the House Education and the Workforce committee on taking action on reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to make students and their education a top priority.

For more information or to cosign the letter, please contact Michael Spierto with Rep. Patrick Meehan at x52301 or michael.spierto@mail.house.gov or Julia Steinberger with Rep. Mark Takano at x52305 or Julia.steinberger@mail.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Mary Kusler
