Election of Deborah Ross to U.S. Senate is a win for North Carolina students and families

WASHINGTON - November 08, 2016 -

North Carolina voters elected Deborah Ross to represent the Tar Heel State in the U.S. Senate. Educators and their families played a key role in delivering a win for Senator-elect Deborah Ross, knocking on doors, canvassing and supporting her campaign. Hold for paragraph on campaign program run in North Carolina. Will add paragraph if Dems regain Senate majority.

NEA President Lily Eskelsen García issued the following statement:

“We congratulate U.S. Senator-Elect Deborah Ross on her election tonight. Educators join her and her family in celebrating this well-earned victory.

“When the new Congress convenes in January, we stand ready to work with Sen.-Elect Ross to put working families ahead of partisan politics and address the nation’s most pressing matters. Washington needs Sen.-Elect Ross because she will make sure that working families have a seat at the table to move the Tar Heel State forward and create good jobs so that people realize greater economic security and prosperity, and build a stronger nation.

“Educators are proud to have supported her campaign, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Sen.-Elect Ross in Washington.”
