NEA joins Washington Education Association for calling an end to tragic shootings in schools


WASHINGTON - September 13, 2017 -

National Education Association President Lily Eskelsen García released the following statement today in response to the school shooting at Freeman High School in Rockford, Washington.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, staff and families of Freeman High School. We again are heartbroken to learn about another tragic shooting in our nation’s schools. Our duty and responsibility as professional educators is to ensure public schools remain the safest place for our students and places where joy and learning happen. We join the Washington Education Association for calling an end to these senseless events.”
