Take Creative Action on Halloween for Campus Equity Week

Plan an event for the October 31 national day of action: mAsk4CampusEquity

College and university faculty teaching off the tenure track have traditionally highlighted the inequitable employment practices that harm our students and profession, during the last week of October. By nationally coordinating local efforts in a concentrated time frame, activists increase visibility and intensify political pressure on administrations.

The mAsk4CampusEquity arts-based campaign for Campus Equity Week 2017 invites all higher education activists to get involved in planning an event for the national day of action on October 31, 2017.

Taking inspiration from historical campus protests and from the opportunity that Halloween affords for theatrical expression, grassroots activists from all across the country have worked together to develop the arts-based 2017 CEW campaign and recently published a website with resources for activists: campusequity2017.com.

The campusequity2017.com website offers historical context, eleven different types of arts-based projects that are not difficult to implement, and a toolkit with graphic designs and a link to a virtual store where mAsk4CampusEquity buttons and stickers can be ordered (union made, of course!). Projects range from sign-making parties to exhibits, culture-jamming, print-ins, mask-making, classroom lessons, and other creative activities which can all be customized to reflect local campus issues and culture.

Visit the website and the social media accounts linked to it:
"Campus Equity Week 2017" on Facebook; and @2017CEW on Twitter where we ask you to use hashtags #2017CEW and #mask4ce. Then spread the word.
