NEA and PDK partnership promises new opportunities for aspiring educators

Together NEA and PDK aim to build a diverse pipeline of teachers

WASHINGTON - September 11, 2019 -

NEA and Phi Delta Kappa International (PDK) announced yesterday their intention to explore a membership option between NEA’s Aspiring Educators program and PDK’s Educators Rising Collegiate program.

“We are looking forward to exploring options for a deepened collaboration between NEA’s Aspiring Educator and PDK’s Educators Rising Collegiate programs,” said Lily Eskelsen Garcia. “Both of these programs support, develop, and empower diverse aspiring educators to create high quality education leaders in every school so that all students can succeed.”

“Both NEA and PDK are committed to supporting future educators and actively engaging in efforts to build a diverse pipeline of teachers joining the profession,” said Director of Educators Rising Shayla L. Cornick.

The NEA Aspiring Educators Program is the leading voice for the next generation of educators. Over 50,000 members in 1,100 campus chapters across the nation belong to the program. Established in 1906, PDK International supports teachers and school leaders by strengthening their interest in the profession through the entire arc of their career.
