TeachUNICEF is developing six lesson plans per grade level that help students in grades 6-8 and 9-12 gain a deeper knowledge of the issues facing youth throughout the developing world. Take Action! Sign on to the Amnesty International petition to free teacher Ma Khin Khin Leh, a prisoner of conscience. Mah Khin Khin Leh, was imprisoned in 1999 becaue of her peaceful political activities. The Myanmar court sentenced her to life imprisonment after an unfair trial. At Education International's 2004 World Congress, the world's education unions met in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and included a large NEA delegation. NEA's President Reg Weaver was elected to the Education International Executive Board. 165 delegations voted on resolutions impacting education, trade union and human rights.
