Ongoing Project: "Each fall, we have a general meeting for Association recruitment for all secretaries in our district. Our membership had been down in the last two years, but this year we have increased our numbers by 40 percent--by keeping our members and all new clericals more informed than ever. We have also had an open house gathering in one of our homes, away from everyone's building.

"This year we have also instituted 'secret pals' to keep as many people in touch with each other as much as we can--we have 34 work locations--and everyone involved is having a great time with this.

"All these things, along with informational newsletters from our NEA state affiliate and from our own local board, have kept all of us involved. Our membership is stronger for it."

Words of Wisdon: "I believe that a higher percentage of Association membership gives you more clout when it comes to negotiations and dealing with the school board and superintendent of your district. Administrators count your members, so make your membership count!"
