The Language of Love

Remember when star-crossed teens professed their love in poetry? “What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun,” said love-struck Romeo.

This Valentine’s Day, as modern love notes are sent via cell phones and instant messages, check out our hip and handy glossary to adolescent love speak:

143 is “I love you.” (Get it? One letter, then four, then three.)

14324*7 is “I love you 24 hours seven days a week.”

ILUVUMED is “I love you MY EDUCATOR!” (Well, not really, though it should be! It’s “I love you more each day.”)

ILUWAMH is “I love you with all my heart.”

IBCNU is “I’ll be seeing you.”

And, one to avoid, IH8U—“I hate you!”
