Best Excuse Ever!

upfront07.jpgAfter 22 years in the classroom, Florida middle school teacher Brenda Dannewitz has heard more than her share of creative homework excuses. But this one must be the best: A raccoon had it. As her student explained, a sizable raccoon and its babies had crashed through a ceiling in her house the night before her homework was due and took refuge in her bedroom. Animal control officers set a trap and, of course, told her to stay out. But the homework remained trapped with the raccoon. The student admitted to the St. Petersburg Times that it was an unlikely excuse. “I kind of thought it’d be hard to believe, too.”
