‘Dear Candy, I Don’t Think We Can See Each Other Anymore…’

f you’re a kid, Valentine’s Day isn’t about cards and carnations. It’s about candy!

upfront11.jpgStill, students will have to settle for sweet nothings at many schools this year, as anti-candy policies take the sugar out of the celebration. In a survey of the country’s 100 largest school districts, nearly half have restricted junk food at class parties, according to the School Nutrition Association. (Last year, Texas legislators passed a “cupcake law” to make exceptions for student birthdays.) That means no trick-or-treating on Halloween and no chocolate kisses on Valentine’s Day.

But honeyed words are always OK….
