National Education Association Announces Launch of NEA Academy
Web based lessons, classroom tips, and professional development courses will support classroom instruction
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Education Association today launched a new Web site, NEA Academy , devoted to supporting the professional development of teachers and education support professionals.
“Teachers need access to instructional materials and quality courses that can help them to employ a variety of classroom strategies to work with children with diverse needs,” says NEA President Reg Weaver. “NEA Academy helps fulfill NEA’s mission of ensuring that every student has access to a great public school.”
As NEA marks its 150th anniversary, the Association is unveiling the future of quality on-line professional development and education tools to increase training availability and options for educators. Among the features of NEA Academy is the popular classroom management course I Can Do It as well as the NEA Teacher Toolkit and career information.
“The site is in its infancy,” says Jan Collins, NEA CIO and CEO of the Academy. “We have plans in store to add exciting courses such as Effective Courses in Diverse Classrooms as well as more lessons and classroom tips. Stay tuned – NEA Academy is new, fresh and exciting.”
