'Remember September 11' Web Site

The National Education Association and NEA's Health Information Network have collected a variety of resources for teachers, school staff, and parents to use regarding the anniversary of September 11.

The material on NEA's "Remember September 11th" Web site is designed to help parents and educators deal with the full range of issues in their continued efforts to help K-12 students understand and cope with September 11. We at the NEA are proud of this new site and believe it will enrich and ennoble the first anniversary of the tragic events.

The praise for heroism, and calls to patriotism and tolerance expressed on this site are the same kinds of themes espoused by President Bush, former mayor Giuliani, and leaders across the country. The site is a celebration of America - and American values, like respect for law, freedom, and individual liberty.

The site features more than 100 lesson plans and over 60 links to outside resources many submitted by classroom teachers, other education professionals, and our educational partners, including the American Library Association, the Public Broadcast System, American Red Cross, and others.

The NEA site includes the Department of Defense, news organizations, the Office of Homeland Security, and a variety of other helpful Web resources.

NEA salutes our American heroes and our great American democracy on September 11 -- and every day. America's teachers and education support professionals are proud to teach our students the values that make America strong.
