NEA works to reduce paperwork

NEA consistently works to increase student achievement and improve working conditions for educators by reducing burdensome and redundant paperwork and unwieldy caseload burdens.

NEA supports most of the paperwork reduction provisions in the Senate and House versions with the notable exception of a paperwork waiver provision in the House bill. NEA also supports the use of three-year Individual Education Plans (IEPs), but only if they are optional.

NEA opposed the complete elimination of short term objectives and benchmarks included in both bills and, in the House, won a delay in implementation until 2005-06 to provide time to develop alternative approaches.
