National Inclusive Schools Week, December 1–5
Creating a More Inclusive Society All Year Round
National Inclusive Schools Week will be celebrated December 1–5, 2008, in classrooms, schools, and communities across the nation. The week highlights the progress our nation's schools have made in providing a supportive, quality education to all students, particularly those who have disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. It also provides an opportunity for educators, students, and families to discuss what else needs to be done.
This year's theme is Together We Learn Better: Inclusive Schools Benefit All Children.
For more information, visit the Inclusive Schools Web site or call 877-332-2870 (TTY: 617-964-5448).
For those interested in inclusive educational practices, there is also the Inclusive Schools Network (ISN), a spin-off from Inclusive Schools Week. ISN is a resource for educators and families to share insights and best practices—a resource for expanding your knowledge of inclusive education and improving your classroom practice. If you want to become an Inclusive Schools Network partner, contact Tom Beer via email or at 617-618-2519.
