EELink Compiles Environmental Education Lesson Plans
Free Compilation of preK-12 Lessons and Activities Focuses on Environment
The North American Association for Environmental Education’s website EElinks has compiled free PreK-12 Lesson Plans from many individual companies and organizations. EE activities and materials are correlated to National, and sometimes State, learning standards. The sites are cross listed by topic area.
Here are some sample lessons and units that can be found through EELinks:
Taming the Paper Tiger (Grades K-5) is a unit on paper and the environment, including a reproducible folktale, hands-on, multi-level (K-6) lesson plans, (using math, literacy, and science skills) and a coloring page.
If Trees Could Talk (Grades 5-8) is an 11-module, middle school environmental history curriculum. Each module comprises primary resources--documents, maps, newspapers, oral histories or photographs--that students examine and analyze to gain insights into human interaction with the environment. Teachers can download, self-contained activities in PDF format.
Global Warming Virtual Courseware (Grades 9-12) provides virtual courseware with 7 self-guided tutorials and other instructional resources that illustrate principles of global warming and climate change due to natural and human caused factors.
In addition to lessons, educators can find teacher and professional resources, and summer job and grant postings. K-12 students can find a list of workshops, camps, competitions, and community projects.
Maintaining a site this size is problematic so users will occasionally find bad links. However, searching the parent site usually produces the resource with its new URL.
