Read Aloud by Celebrities @ Storyline Online

Storyline Online is an anthology of 24 picture books for students in grades PreK-3 read by well-known actors like Elijah Wood, Betty White, and James Earl Jones. Each story comes with activities. Teachers can download a complete activity guide.

For example, Robert Guillaume, the voice of Rafiki in The Lion King, reads Guji Guji, (6:30 minutes) an unlikely tale of a crocodile hatched and raised by a duck. When three hungry crocodiles try to bully Guji Guji into betraying his duck family, he has to decide where his loyalty lies. Guji Guji can be read as an adoption, bullying, loyalty, nature/nurture, or just plain fun story.

Video Interviews @ Reading Rockets

Reading Rockets turns the spotlight on the creators of children’s books with more than 100 video interviews with authors and illustrators of picture books to young adult novels in Video Interviews with Top Children's Book Authors and Illustrators.

Each interview is presented in a series of short clips. Each clip can be paused and started independently. In ten parts, Chris Van Allsburg, the author of The Polar Express (read by Lou Diamond Phillips on Storyline Online) tells how he became an artist by accident and how after working as a sculptor in New York City was encouraged to turn to children’s book illustration and writing.

Each author entry includes a short biography and transcript of the interview.
