WatchKnowLearn has organized thousands of free K-12 educational video clips in all subjects for teachers, students, and parents. So far, grade K-6 videos have been aligned to Common Core State Standards. Grades 7 and 8 are under construction. Resources can be located with a keyword search or browsed by subject area. Clicking a subject to browse provides subcategories and subsequent subcategories. Resources can be filtered by age, although the age selection mechanism is unusual: ranging 1-18 to 18.
One language arts video is History of English in 10 Minutes. This humorous and informative, animated short covers the development of the English language from the retreat of the Romans from Great Britain to the present, including the effects of texting and Internet. The video is labeled for students in grades 5-12, but includes a caution. Given some of the vocabulary and humor, students in grades 10-12 would make a more suitable audience.
Under math, Nature by Number (3:45) is a beautiful animated look at the Fibonacci sequence and the Spiral, Golden and Angle Ratios, and Delaunay Triangulation and Voronoi Tessellations.
Under history, Table Top Trebuchet (5:42) shows a full-size trebuchet launch a bowling ball and a 1:40 scale model fling small rubber missiles. The narrator explains the physics of the medieval war machine designed to smash castle walls and directs students to construction plans if they want to build a similar model for a science fair project.
Under art and just in time for autumn, DIY Homemade Pinhole Camera Made From A Pumpkin (5:32) shows how to make and use a pinhole camera.
