Grammar Ninja is a leveled game that provides practice for K-8 students in identifying parts of speech. PC, Mac, and Wii versions are available. PC and Mac versions can be downloaded.
Students progress through three levels of difficulty: beginner, skilled, and master. Beginners identify nouns and verbs. Skilled players identify nouns, verbs, pronouns, articles, adjectives, and adverbs. Master players identify all parts of speech. When students correctly identify a part of speech, a ninja star marks it. An incorrectly identified part of speech is labeled correctly. An indicator tells how many words remain. Students can click a question mark for help and make and erase notes with their cursor. The basic game has ten sentences, but in repeat rounds, students are asked to identify different parts of speech.
Download and Modify the Game
Grammar Ninja Sentence Creator (ZIP, 14.4 MB) lets teachers easily add sentences to expand and tailor the game to classroom needs. Using an entered sentence, GNSC generates a sentence in XML code, which can then be copied and pasted in the data file. GNSC is available for PC and Mac and must be downloaded to be used. Advanced Settings allow for other changes. A Read Me File in the GNSC download folder provides detailed instructions.
