Achieve The Core’s Mathematics Lessons are designed to highlight the Common Core math Shifts: focus, coherence, fluency, deep understanding, application, and dual intensity. For more information about the lessons and Common Core, see Understanding the Mathematics Lessons. The K-12 lessons can be filtered by grade and sorted by title and downloaded as PDFs. Teachers can Create an Account to save resources and receive recommendations based on preferences.

In one sample lesson, Count 10 Objects Within Counts of 10 to 20 Objects lets kindergarten students visualize teen numbers as ten ones and some additional ones. The required instructional Shifts are detailed. A section called Additional Thoughts links to a multi-lesson unit. Supplemental resources include Understand the Mathematics Lessons, Coherence Map, and Lesson Planning Tool that guides teachers through prompts about the lesson content, structure, and activities to ensure required Shifts are central to a lesson.

Mathematics Tasks can also be filtered and sorted. In a 6th grade task, Cup of Rice students work individually or in groups to solve a story problem involving fractions. An Illustrative Mathematics Commentary & Solution and Additional Thoughts are included.

Mathematics Assessments are designed to illustrate math Shifts and expectations of college- and career-ready standards. They can be filtered and sorted. For example, Extending Previous Understandings of Properties Mini-Assessment comprises problem types, including fill-in-the-blank and short answer, to assess the understanding of algebraic expressions. It is available in PDF and Word.

The Coherence Map is an interactive website that shows how the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics K–8 relate to one another. Two sections explain how to use the map and understanding coherence (video 4:37).

Achieve The Core also provides classroom resources for ELA/Literacy.
