Encouraging Reluctant Readers

"One strategy that I have been using to entice my 8th grade reluctant readers is to give them a book trailer. Just like upcoming movies, I review several books by reading an interesting snippet, raise an "I wonder..." question, make a statement that could connect to several of my students and lastly display the book. I find these techniques pique their interest and make those reluctant readers racing to sign up for books before other get them."
