Conserving Paper
February 18, 2009
These are a few things I do to conserve paper in my classroom:
- My guidelines for typed papers call for reduced margins and line spacing: ½” margins and 1.5 line spacing, rather than 1” margins and double-spaced. I do not require separate title pages.
- When classes end each semester and kids clean out their lockers, students bring me unused paper, which is then available in my room the next semester when a student has no paper.
- We all recycle bottles and paper in the room, and I often run copies on the blank side of previously copied pages.
- I give quizzes every Friday, and I committed myself to no more questions than can fit on one double sided page. Depending on the types of questions, that may be ten, twenty, or three.
