These are a few things I do to conserve paper in my classroom:

My guidelines for typed papers call for reduced margins and line spacing: ½” margins and 1.5 line spacing, rather than 1” margins and double-spaced. I do not require separate title pages.
When classes end each semester and kids clean out their lockers, students bring me unused paper, which is then available in my room the next semester when a student has no paper.
We all recycle bottles and paper in the room, and I often run copies on the blank side of previously copied pages.
I give quizzes every Friday, and I committed myself to no more questions than can fit on one double sided page. Depending on the types of questions, that may be ten, twenty, or three.

There are tons of unused old newsprint paper with old-fashioned penmanship lines on them. Do you know what I mean? Great for scrap paper, notes, what not- it's paper that would otherwise never be used.

We collect all single sided paper that was unused. When we get enough of it, we bring it to a local printer and since we are a school, they cut it into fourths and then bind it into 'think pads' for us to use. The students LOVE having their own tiny little notebooks!

I used 1/4 sheets of scrap paper as exit slips (I would ask one to three questions based on the lesson for a formative assessment). This really helped me to know where my students were at with their understanding, and I didn't waste any fresh paper. I kept a stack of these scrap 1/4 sheets because they came in so handy.
