Conserving Paper

February 18, 2009

“Guidelines for typed papers in my classes are 1/2" margins and 1.5 line spacing, rather than 1" margins and double-spaced. I do not require separate title pages. When classes end each semester and kids clean out their lockers, students bring me unused paper, which is then available in my room the next semester when a student has no paper. We all recycle bottles and paper in the room, and I often run copies on the blank side of previously copied pages. I give quizzes every Friday, and I committed myself to no more questions than can fit on one double sided page. Depending on the types of questions, that may be ten, twenty, or three.”
