Guess the Correct Book Summary
April 01, 2009
“For the past few years, I have played a game with my students based on the Balderdash game. I write the name of a book on the board and have them create a one or two sentence summary of what they think could happen in the book. I then select three or four of their suggestions and add a true summary. I read them aloud, have one student summarize in a word or two, and then have them vote on which is the true story. I give out small prizes for the kids who guess right and for the kid who fools the most people. As they are getting their prize, I read the jacket flap. It's a fun way to practice writing, summarization, and to preview a book.”
