Organize Your Lesson Planning

August 03, 2009

Use three-ring binders with section dividers to keep all your notes/handouts/tests in proper order, or they will overwhelm you. I buy one for each new teacher in my department as a welcome gift. Also, take a moment to evaluate each lesson. Jot down a comment like ‘this took only 20 minutes’ or ‘kids had a hard time with this – need more practice’ or ‘great fun!’ Over the summer, go through and revise where you can.

I love the flexibility that 3-ring binders give! This is a good way to get/stay organized.

This is a great tip, especially for cluster teachers teaching multi classes. You can separate grades and topics. I use a table of contents for each grade to keep focused.
