A Class Full of Reluctant Readers

If you’re having trouble getting your high school students to read and improve their reading skills, I would highly recommend the book, I Read It, but I Don't Get It: Comprehension Strategies for Adolescent Readers, by Chris Tovani. There are excellent ideas about how to reach kids who do not understand how to read for comprehension using shorter and longer texts. Tovani's book is short with practical ideas that are easy to put into practice immediately. Plus Tovani's writing includes many ancedotes that obviously show this stuff work with reluctant readers!
