Best Past President

My fifth-grade class is planning a mock election. Students will vote on the Best Past U.S. President. Eaach student researches a President and then argues why his choice should be chosen. We have 33 kids in our room, so we have preliminaries at their table groups. They present their nomination to their table, and the table chooses one to go to the Primary. Students will listen to 7 speeches and then vote for their favorite. We haven’t worked out all the steps yet, and we’re not sure we are going to do separate classroom elections or somehow have all four classes involved in the final vote.
