Carbon Copy Notes to Parents & Colleagues
I use an inexpensive duplicating memo set (like a phone message pad), when I need to send a note home or reprimand a student. I make sure to note the date and time in the book and send the original home, keeping the duplicate in my book. If necessary, I can go back through the book and review previous documentation of infractions. I also have a record of when I notified a parent.
I use the same pad to communicate with school staff too. When I write a note to a colleague, I use a Post-it glue stick on the original to send and keep a copy for myself. It’s a simple and accurate way to keep track of all kinds of paperwork, because the copies are right there in the book.
I use this same system when I send home positive feedback and dress the notes up with a special teacher stamp.
