Cellular Homework Hotline

Found In: homework, parent-teacher communication, parents, routines & procedures, technology tools

I use my cell phone as a homework hotline for my students and parents. Each day I leave a message on my voice mail that gives all of the daily assignments and any upcoming events that might be of interest to the parents. I’ve been doing this for three years and parent comments have been very positive. Students making the transition from primary to intermediate grades often have difficulty and this allows both students and parents the opportunity to know what all the homework is. It also takes away the excuse of not knowing something was due. It only takes about two minutes of my time each day.
