Check It Chest

I often have children who bring toys to school. I didn't like confiscating them all the time and wanted to foster self-responsibility, so I set up the Check It Chest. If a student brings something to school he shouldn't have, I give him a choice. The student must check it or I take it and hold for a week. It didn't take long for the kids to begin coming into class and checking their toys voluntarily. They pick them up at the end of the day and never get in trouble.
